Our Story
Hickman Homestead started as a dream — not just to grow food, and live on our own but to grow connection.
What began as a simple family homestead in Lakeside, Oregon is blossoming into a community space where creativity, kindness, and curiosity are always in season. We’re raising animals, planting gardens, hosting raffles, and welcoming kids with paintbrushes in hand — all in the name of building something meaningful together.
We created Creative Wednesdays to give kids a safe, screen-free space to explore art. We launched Chicken Poo Bingo to make fundraising fun. We’ve hosted egg hunts, barbecues, and bunny meet-and-greets — because we believe that joy builds strong communities.
Everything we do is guided by love, purpose, and a deep belief that you don’t need to be big to make a big impact.

Accommodations
Dry Camping/staging
Looking for a quiet, convenient spot to park near the dunes? Welcome to Hickman Homestead Dry Camping — a spacious, family-friendly staging area just minutes from the Oregon sand dunes.
We offer:

Our flock roams freely, soaks up sunshine, and enjoys a natural, healthy diet — resulting in rich, golden yolks and light brown shells. You’ll taste the difference in every bite.

Fun & Relaxation
Creativity Wednesdays
Art, animals, and imagination — every Wednesday afternoon!
At Hickman Homestead, Wednesdays are all about letting kids be kids. Creativity Wednesdays is a weekly after-school art and craft class designed for children ages 5 to 12. It’s a screen-free, stress-free space where they can explore their creativity, make new friends, and bring home something they’re proud of.
Each week features:

Bunny breaks and outdoor play (weather permitting!)
Time: Wednesdays from 4:00 – 6:00 PM
Cost: $10 per child per class
(Pay weekly or reserve a month at a time)
